Ever wondered Why or How a Soccer Ball moves in the air when it is kicked a certain way?

I remember watching one of the most outrageous free kicks of all time by a little Brazilian called Roberto Carlos. He kicked the ball from 35 yards out, with the outside of his foot, bent it around the wall and in the back of the net.....Still makes my jaw drop even today.
